Fuel, Utilities and Groceries
A handy survival list!
This helpful list is included in your welcome pack, we have detailed it here to give you a flavour of the area!
Last stop for fuel!
If you’re travelling by road to Carradale, the last stop for fuel and a little shopping is at Lochgilphead on the A83. It’s an Esso Tesco Express with opening hours of 07:00-22:00 daily. However, holidays and circumstances are subject to change that so look at their site for more information.
Day to day fuel needs
Once in Carradale one of your easy to locate fuel choices is the County Garage which is in the centre of Campbeltown opposite the Co-op on Millknowe Road. It’s an Esso with opening hours of 07:00-20:00 daily.
We recommend you ensure you have enough fuel for travelling around Kintyre and of course, enough to get you on your way on your journey home. Once again, holidays and circumstances are subject to change the hours so look at their site for more information.
Any questions? We can help!
Wood and Coal
We provide you with a reasonable amount of wood logs and coal (Surefire) for normal use however you might use more than we expect! If that’s the case you’ll need to buy some extra fuel from D McNair. You can pick it up or they can deliver to Carradale for free on Thursdays.
Surefire 50KG is around £21 and a bag of hardwood logs are around £8.
We’ve provided enough electricity credit for normal use. If you have or will run out then you will need to buy additional credit. You can replenish the credit by taking the Scottish Power electricity key to the local Post Office in West Carradale or the Co-op in Campbeltown that has a Post Office.
Not just a haircut. A lifestyle at h’Airds.
Whatever your gender you can never go wrong with a spot of pampering. From clay skin treatment to hair colouring, Michael and Annik will give you a well deserved treat. Check their website as booking is essential for their beautiful micro salon in the center of Carradale!
Ask us anything!
There’s a temporary village shop stocking local Kintyre produce and staples just outside the Village Hall that you pass on the way in to Carradale. It’s open 10am until 2pm daily except Sunday’s.
The main supermarkets are the Co-op and Tesco in Campbeltown. They offer a much wider selection of goods as you may expect. It’s about a 30 minute drive from Carradale and handy for that well deserved selection of treats and essentials!
Campbeltown Post Office is inside the Co-op.
The weekly shop and more!
Kintyre Kollector also offer a fantastic service where you can arrange shopping from a selection of major stores in Glasgow and they pick it up and transport it to Campbeltown for you to collect.
Usually this is on a Sunday but contact them for further details.
