Carradale Harbour Day – July 20th

Not a pirate cos player to be seen, plenty of people though.

A day of fun and frolics at Carradale Harbour on Kintyre. There will also be a fun dog show, bar, BBQ, craft stalls, home baking and more…

Someone took this photo to get away from the massing throng.

In the past few years at this successful event there have been crowds aplenty and more cos playing pirates than you could shake a small goat at. Let’s see what is happening this year!

For more details, please visit the Carradale Harbour website, their FaceBook page or the Page of Faces for Carradale Community.

Tarbert Traditional Boat Festival – 20th July

Tarbert once again providing entertainment with a greasy pole.

Every year Tarbert hosts the traditional boat festival where you see exciting sail pasts, traction engines and loads of stalls. You also get the chance to er.. float around yourself for a bit too if greasy poles are your thing. And indeed, why not?

Oh hi! I have a boat!

We urge you to view these magnificent boats and reflect on the local heritage that the fishing town of Tarbert has gained over the years.

All of that and more, and of course the greasy pole ride.

Go on lad, keep a good grip!

Tarbert Fair July 25th – 27th

In town for two days only! Roll up! Roll up!

Normally I’m able to look at photos from social media and maybe promote events like this with them but try as I might I could not find any actual photos of the Tarbert Fair. Maybe what happens in Tarbert stays in Tarbert? Who knows!

Tarbert Fair does actually have some history as it’s of the oldest approved fairs in Tarbert, being held, since 1705, on the last Thursday of July every year. I mean wow!

There used to be a cattle sale (yawn-sorry farmers) that accompanied this but bizarrely that doesn’t happen anymore, so its straightforward rides and amusements with little kids and big kids alike getting excited and everyone else planning to take loads of pictures! Go on people, get some selfies!

More information might be found at their FaceBook page…or at one of the Tarbert sites here. Visit anyway and have fun!
